The Tweetsie Blog

Tweetsie Discussions

Welcome aboard Tweetsie Railroad’s blog! We have enjoyed reading your emails, comments and blog postings over the years about your visits to the Wild West theme park so we decided to create our own. We hope you will visit often, and over the next few months read about what’s happening at Tweetsie as we gear up for our 2010 season. We’ll give you an inside look into what the animals are up to this winter, what’s happening in the train shop to maintain historic steam locomotives as well as our 200-acre park, and all the preparations for the 53rd season.

  • hello-My family enjoys coming to Tweetsie, and I was wondering if Thomas the Train is coming back this Spring? If so, when are the dates? Thanks!

  • My husband and I got season passes this Christmas for the 2010 season.  We have a 9 1/2 month little boy and I can’t wait to bring him to Tweetsie.  My sisters and I came while we were growing up and in the past few 8 years, I have brought my neice on numerous occasions.  See you soon.

  • We have been coming to tweetsie for years. We get season passes for us and our grandchildren and they love to go every chance we get.
Also,my husband and I have been coming before we had grandchildren and we loved it.  We especially like coming and ride the Ghost Train. That is a blast.

  • We have brought our little boy the past two years; this April 30th we are returning for the 3rd time, (he turned 4 in October)  We are especially hoping to see #12 in action and would love to know what it takes to get to ride with the Engineer and Fireman.  Also, we think it would be great for you to open up a part of the shop to show how you maintain the numerous Steam Engines and show off whichever engine is resting that day!

  • I love Tweetsie! It’s my favorite park and railroad. I always have a great time! I have tons of fun riding the rides, watching the shows, and of course, riding the train! I am really looking forward to riding behind #12.  Looking forward to 2010 season.

  • I have loved tweetsie, every since I was little.  Having a child of my own, I couldn’t wait to bring him.  He is also Thomas the Tank crazy and we had a ball at that last year.  Is there plans on having Thomas there for 2010?  It wasn’t on the schedule on the thomas sight and couldn’t find it on this one either.

  • Generally I do not post on blogs, but I would like to say that this post really forced me to do so, Excellent post!

  • One of my favorite photos and memories from my childhood was of my grandfather lifting me up to sit on one of the horses along Main Street.  That was many years ago and even though that memory still lingers, a new and even more special one now exists…seeing my one year old son last summer loving his place on that horse as much as I did.  Thank you Tweetsie, we’ll see you soon.

  • Here in Virginia we have had a long hard winter too! Recently the weather started getting warmer and we actually have seen some sunshine. On that first sunny day my 4-year old said “Oh good it’s getting spring-time so now we can go to Tweetsie!”  Can’t wait till opening day!

  • We are making memories at Tweetsie. Our four( desperados) grandsons all dressed up in matching shirts, jeans. cowboy boots, gun holsters,  red scarfs over their faces to hide from bad guys and Tweetsie Cowboy hats strollin’ down main street in June. You may have seen them. We will be there again this year. See you at Tweetsie.  Make your own memories too. :)

  • I’m 41 years old and I remember my parents taking me to Tweetsie when I was little and I continued the tradition with my now, almost 12 year-old son.  We’ve taken him at least once a summer since he could walk and we’re continuing the same tradition with our now 3 year-old son.  It’s an ongoing joke with our oldest son, that if you ask him where he’s going to go to college he automatically says, “mom says I’m going to ASU and I’m getting a job at Tweetsie during the summers”, so you have to stay around AT LEAST another 10 years….and hopefully, much, much longer than that!  I do agree with the other blogger who suggested opening an area where you can see how the trains are maintained….great idea!!

  • I have been coming to tweetsie since 1972 as a child and bringing my own kids in the past few years. One thing I remember before the mouse mine was built was a castle on the top of the mountain that you could peek into small windows and they had a sleeping giant inside, does anyone else remember this and does any pictues exist of this old attraction?

  • We took our sons to Tweetsie many years ago, our oldest is now 40. I was looking up some info for friends that want to take their grandkids there, and heck, my wife and I might make the trip again as well. I had forgotten what a great place Tweetsie is.

  • I HAVE NOT BEEN TO TWEETSIE FOR YEARS!!! I’M TURNING 13 NEXT SATURDAY, LAST I REMEMBER, I THINK I WAS 4
